Catalogue sofas are designed to a price and a shipping container. They come in three widths and one depth, and the depth is almost always wrong.
Nearly every sofa sold in a Bangkok mall is proportioned for a European or American body. Sit in one and your feet leave the floor, or the seat is so deep that your back never reaches the backrest and the front edge cuts across your calves. That is not a comfort preference. It is a measurement mismatch, and it is the single most common reason people give us for commissioning instead of buying.
We build the sofa to your room and to the people who will sit in it. Seat height, seat depth, arm height, back height and overall width are all set by you. Below are seven silhouettes clients ask for most often — each one is a starting point, not a product code.

Commission this →Almost nothing that decides whether a sofa lasts is visible once it is upholstered. These are the four things that matter, what the numbers mean, and what to ask any maker before you pay a deposit — us included. The exact specification for your piece is written on your quote.
The frame decides whether the sofa is still square in ten years. Furniture-grade timber is kiln-dried to a moisture content of roughly 8–12%. Timber above that will keep drying once it sits in an air-conditioned Bangkok room, and as it dries it shrinks, loosens its joints, and starts to creak and rack. In Thailand the common frame timbers are kiln-dried rubberwood and hardwood ply for panels; European makers more often use beech or poplar. Species matters less than drying. Ask three questions: is it kiln-dried, what moisture content, and are the corners glued-and-screwed corner blocks or just staples. Staples alone will not hold a corner under a decade of use.
Under the cushion sits one of three systems. Serpentine (sinuous) steel springs are the industry default: quick to fit, consistent, and entirely adequate for most silhouettes. Elastic or jute webbing is lighter and shallower, which suits low modernist frames where there is no room for springs. Eight-way hand-tied — every spring knotted to its neighbours in eight directions — is slower, heavier and considerably more expensive, and it is the only system that lets a deep seat give evenly across its whole span instead of dipping where people actually sit. The right choice follows the shape of the piece, not the price.
These are two different numbers and confusing them is the most expensive mistake a buyer makes. Density (kg/m³) predicts how long the seat holds its shape. Firmness (ILD) is only how it feels on the first day. As a rough map of the market: economy foam runs about 18–25 kg/m³, mid-market around 28–33, and high-resilience (HR) foam used in quality upholstery is roughly 33–50. A low-density foam can feel pleasantly firm in a showroom and lose a third of its height inside two years. A well-built seat is high-density foam for support with a down or fibre wrap on top for softness — the give you feel should come from the topper, not from the core collapsing.
Western sofas are generally built to a seat height of 43–48 cm and a seat depth of 58–65 cm, sized for the average European or American body. For many Thai adults a seat height of about 38–43 cm and a depth of 50–58 cm is the difference between sitting properly and perching. If your feet do not rest flat on the floor the seat is too high; if your back cannot reach the backrest without a cushion behind you, it is too deep. We set both from the people who will actually use the sofa, measured at the consultation, rather than from a standard table.
The material decides how the piece ages more than the silhouette does. We hold samples of everything below — a physical board comes with your quote, because leather cannot be chosen from a screen.
Leather
Dyed all the way through and left unsealed. The grain, the healed scars, the shading — all still visible. It marks easily and it patinas beautifully. Choose it if you want the hide to record your use of it.
Aniline dyeing with a thin pigment layer on top. Keeps most of the depth and grain while surviving a household with children or a dog. The default recommendation for a main living-room sofa.
A heavier surface coat. The most uniform in colour and the most resistant to spills, sunlight and cleaning. The least alive to the hand.
Saturated with oil or wax so the colour lightens where the hide is pulled and stretched. Scratches burnish out under a thumb. Not a hide for someone who wants it to stay identical.
Sanded on the grain side to a fine nap. Warm, matte, tactile — and the least forgiving of anything wet.
Fabric
Belgian and Thai-woven. Breathes in humidity, creases honestly, softens with every wash. The right answer for a room that gets real sunlight.
Cotton, viscose or performance-backed. Reads as depth of colour rather than surface colour. Shows a pile direction — deliberate, not a fault.
Looped wool-blend. Hides everyday marking better than almost anything else and gives a sculpted form its texture.
Solution-dyed acrylics and polyesters. Bleach-cleanable and UV-stable. What we specify for balconies, pool rooms and houses with very young children.

Our sofas start at ฿155,000 for a two-seat curved loveseat and run to ฿390,000 for a large modular sectional, at reference dimensions. The final figure moves with size, leather grade or fabric, and configuration. You get a fixed written quote before any deposit is taken, so the number does not change after you commit.
Drawings, material samples and a fixed quote within 1–2 weeks of your first brief. Production is 8–14 weeks from your approval. If you have a hard deadline — a move-in date, a handover — tell us at the brief and we will say plainly whether it is achievable rather than discovering it late.
No deposit is taken until you have approved both the drawing and the fixed written quote — nothing is payable while you are still deciding. In the Thai custom-furniture market the usual structure is a deposit on approval with the balance before delivery; the exact split and schedule for your commission is set out on your quote before you sign anything.
Often it is not. A mall sofa carries import duty, a distributor margin, and a share of the showroom's rent before it reaches you. Commissioning removes the layers between the workshop floor and your room — you pay for material, labour and the studio's design fee. Against an imported Italian sofa of comparable construction, the gap is usually large. Against a mass-market Thai sofa, you are paying more, and what you are buying is the frame, the suspension and the fit.
