The measurements that decide whether a chair is comfortable are seat height, seat depth, back angle and arm height, and all four interact. Raise the seat and the back angle needs to open. Deepen the seat and a shorter sitter loses the backrest entirely. A chair sold in three sizes has quietly decided all of this for you.

Western lounge chairs are typically built at 40–45 cm seat height, dining and desk chairs at 45–48 cm. For many Thai adults a lounge seat around 38–42 cm is the difference between sitting and perching. The test is simple and takes two seconds: sit back fully, and see whether both feet rest flat with your thighs roughly level. If your heels lift, the chair is too tall for you, and no cushion fixes it.
A lounge chair is usually 50–60 cm deep with the back reclined 100–110° from the seat; a reading or occasional chair sits shallower and more upright. Depth and angle have to move together. Open the back angle without deepening the seat and you slide forward; deepen the seat without opening the angle and your lower back loses contact entirely. This pairing is what a stock chair silently decides on your behalf.
Arms usually sit 18–25 cm above the seat cushion. Too high and your shoulders lift and stay lifted, which is what makes a beautiful chair quietly exhausting after twenty minutes. Too low and your elbows find nothing. It is also the dimension that decides whether the chair slides under your side table — worth measuring before, not after.
Kiln-dried hardwood at roughly 8–12% moisture content, corners glued and screwed with corner blocks rather than stapled. Seat foam judged by density (kg/m³) rather than by how firm it feels on day one: economy foam runs about 18–25, mid-market 28–33, and the high-resilience foam used in quality upholstery roughly 33–50. A chair takes a single sitter's full weight in one spot every time, so a thin or low-density seat shows its age faster here than on a sofa.
The material decides how the piece ages more than the silhouette does. We hold samples of everything below — a physical board comes with your quote, because leather cannot be chosen from a screen.
Leather
Dyed all the way through and left unsealed. The grain, the healed scars, the shading — all still visible. It marks easily and it patinas beautifully. Choose it if you want the hide to record your use of it.
Aniline dyeing with a thin pigment layer on top. Keeps most of the depth and grain while surviving a household with children or a dog. The default recommendation for a main living-room sofa.
A heavier surface coat. The most uniform in colour and the most resistant to spills, sunlight and cleaning. The least alive to the hand.
Saturated with oil or wax so the colour lightens where the hide is pulled and stretched. Scratches burnish out under a thumb. Not a hide for someone who wants it to stay identical.
Sanded on the grain side to a fine nap. Warm, matte, tactile — and the least forgiving of anything wet.
Fabric
Belgian and Thai-woven. Breathes in humidity, creases honestly, softens with every wash. The right answer for a room that gets real sunlight.
Cotton, viscose or performance-backed. Reads as depth of colour rather than surface colour. Shows a pile direction — deliberate, not a fault.
Looped wool-blend. Hides everyday marking better than almost anything else and gives a sculpted form its texture.
Solution-dyed acrylics and polyesters. Bleach-cleanable and UV-stable. What we specify for balconies, pool rooms and houses with very young children.

Ours run from ฿85,000 for a Nordic tub chair to ฿250,000 for a high-back Italian lounge, at reference dimensions. The final figure moves with size, leather grade or fabric, and frame finish. You get a fixed written quote before any deposit is taken.
That is the main reason people commission one. Bring the person to the consultation if you can. We measure seat height against their lower leg, depth against their thigh, and arm height against their seated elbow, then build the chair to those numbers rather than to a standard table. If the chair is a gift, their height and inside-leg measurement gets us most of the way.
Drawings, material samples and a fixed quote within 1–2 weeks of your first brief. Production is 8–14 weeks from your approval — the same as a sofa, because the frame and upholstery work is the same regardless of scale.
We check this before the frame is cut, not after. Lift dimensions, door widths, stair turns and corridor corners are measured at the site visit. Where a piece genuinely will not go up in one part, we build it to come apart and reassemble on your floor — much cheaper than discovering the problem on delivery day.
Yes, within limits. If the sofa is still in production we can often source or closely match the fabric. If it is not, we work from a physical sample — a cushion cover, or a cut from underneath the frame — and match weave, weight and colour as closely as the material allows. We will tell you plainly when an exact match is not achievable rather than delivering an approximation you did not agree to.
Often it is not, once you compare like for like. A mall chair carries import duty, a distributor margin and a share of the showroom's rent.
