The result is familiar: a frame that leaves 30 cm of dead space on one side, or a headboard that stops short of the wall panelling it was meant to sit against.
Beds are also where mattress sizing quietly causes trouble in Thailand. Thai-market mattresses are commonly sold at 3.5, 5 and 6 feet wide, while imported frames are cut for UK, US or European standards — and none of those three agree with each other either. A US King is 193 cm wide; a UK King is 150 cm. A frame bought for one and a mattress bought for the other will not meet.

Thai-market mattresses are commonly sold as 3.5 ft (about 107 cm), 5 ft (about 152 cm) and 6 ft (about 183 cm) wide. International standards do not line up with these or with each other: a UK King is 150 × 200 cm, a US King 193 × 203 cm, a US Queen 152 × 203 cm, and a European King 180 × 200 cm. Length varies as much as width. We build the frame to the mattress you have or have chosen — bring the actual measurements, not the name of the size, because the same word means different things in different markets.
Headboard height is set by what is behind it: a picture rail, a wall panel, a window sill, an air-conditioning unit. A tall headboard reads as luxury right up until it collides with a cornice. Decide whether it is floor-mounted as part of the frame or wall-mounted as a separate panel — wall mounting lets the headboard run wider than the bed, which is what makes a standard mattress look deliberately proportioned in an oversized room.
A slatted base lets air move under the mattress; a solid platform does not. In Bangkok humidity that difference is not academic — a mattress on a sealed platform in a room that is air-conditioned intermittently is the standard recipe for damp underneath and, eventually, mould. Slats also need spacing appropriate to the mattress: most foam and pocket-spring mattresses specify a maximum gap, and exceeding it will void the mattress warranty and let the mattress sag between slats.
A king frame is the piece most likely not to fit up a condominium stairwell or around a corridor turn. We measure lift, doors and turns at the site visit and build the frame to come apart where it has to. It is far cheaper to design a bed in sections than to discover the problem with a delivery team standing in your lobby.
The material decides how the piece ages more than the silhouette does. We hold samples of everything below — a physical board comes with your quote, because leather cannot be chosen from a screen.
Leather
Dyed all the way through and left unsealed. The grain, the healed scars, the shading — all still visible. It marks easily and it patinas beautifully. Choose it if you want the hide to record your use of it.
Aniline dyeing with a thin pigment layer on top. Keeps most of the depth and grain while surviving a household with children or a dog. The default recommendation for a main living-room sofa.
A heavier surface coat. The most uniform in colour and the most resistant to spills, sunlight and cleaning. The least alive to the hand.
Saturated with oil or wax so the colour lightens where the hide is pulled and stretched. Scratches burnish out under a thumb. Not a hide for someone who wants it to stay identical.
Sanded on the grain side to a fine nap. Warm, matte, tactile — and the least forgiving of anything wet.
Fabric
Belgian and Thai-woven. Breathes in humidity, creases honestly, softens with every wash. The right answer for a room that gets real sunlight.
Cotton, viscose or performance-backed. Reads as depth of colour rather than surface colour. Shows a pile direction — deliberate, not a fault.
Looped wool-blend. Hides everyday marking better than almost anything else and gives a sculpted form its texture.
Solution-dyed acrylics and polyesters. Bleach-cleanable and UV-stable. What we specify for balconies, pool rooms and houses with very young children.

Yes, and it is a common commission. A wall-mounted headboard panel works with a divan or an existing frame, and it can run wider than the bed to give a standard mattress a more generous proportion in a large room. It is also the easiest bedroom piece to install without disturbing the rest of the room.

No — we build the frame and the headboard, and you supply the mattress. That is deliberate. It means the frame is built around whatever mattress you have already chosen or already own, rather than around one we happen to stock, which matters more in Thailand than most places because Thai mattress sizes do not match imported frame standards. Send us the exact dimensions of yours, including its depth, and we build to them.
Because bedrooms are rarely standard and mattress sizing in Thailand rarely matches imported frames.
