Inside the Studio
The Bangkok atelier that builds every Space K commission has manufactured furniture for over four decades. The same factory floor supplies Banyan Tree, Sansiri, Novotel, Minor Hotels, Land & Houses, Greyhound and H&M. This is the photo essay we send when a designer asks for proof.
THE FACTORY FLOOR
Samut Prakan, Bangkok. Founded 1985 by Khun Surasak. Second-generation craft management since 2014. The chair frame in the foreground is one of 40+ pieces in production on any given week.
The Story
For four decades this atelier has built upholstery for the largest hospitality groups in Thailand — quietly, under their labels. Each Banyan Tree sofa, each Novotel reception bench, each Sansiri sales-gallery lounge chair was specified by a designer, signed off by a hotel owner, and built on the same floor where Space K commissions are produced today.
The arrangement that lets us price 50–70% below Chanintr or Poliform for equivalent specification is simple: we own the atelier. There is no import margin, no exclusive-distributor markup, no showroom-rental rollup. The number you pay is closer to the number the factory invoices than any imported piece in Bangkok.
What changed in 2022 is the front. Space K is the front. Korean design direction, the same Thai master craftsmen. A direct relationship between the client who specifies and the workshop that builds.
Studio visits in Wang Thonglang are limited to one or two per day so the master craftsmen are available to walk you through the frame-build and fabric library in person.
