THE DESIGN

중심 (jungsim) — centre, core, the focal point everything organises around. The Jungsim is a long velvet bolster bench. The piece that organises a bedroom around its foot, or an entryway around the moment of arrival.

The architecture is honest. A row of full-round bolsters in heavyweight velvet, leather, or wool — your choice of fabric — set above a solid wood plinth with hand-turned dowel legs and a single connecting end-bolster that doubles as a back rest. Made by hand, joined without exposed hardware.

Length from 140cm to 300cm. Bolster count from seven to fifteen, depending on length and the diameter you specify. Plinth in solid walnut, oak, or blackened ash. The end-bolster can be placed left, right, or omitted entirely — depending on whether the bench lives at the foot of a bed, in an entry, or as additional seating at the side of a dining table.

Eight bolster diameters and four plinth heights are reviewed before fabrication begins. The Jungsim is made to live with the room around it — not to dominate it.
